UPDATED AUGUST 2009
First: Now that Series 2 has finished, "Sun" will go forward with a slightly revised storyline that interprets the current canon to date. Earlier chapters will likely be rewritten later, as I'd rather advance the story than revisit its earlier content immediately. I began "Sun" as a newcomer to the show before Series 2 started. I assumed that the end of S2 would find Guy and Marian estranged in some way; "Sun" was intended to leapfrog into speculation beyond that point. Episode 2.13 notwithstanding, the broad outlines of the story as I originally forecast it remain intact.
ETA August 2009: Having finally watched Series 3, which (the obvious exceptions notwithstanding) presented no huge obstacles to the "Sun" storyline as I'd planned it back in S1, I'm going to take another crack at continuing. I'll be reworking the initial chapters as the characterization and dramatic emphasis do need adjustment, and the circumstances of Marian's disappearance obviously have changed in light of S2.
The very short pieces titled "Dust" and "The King's Bird" (linked below) will serve as the prologue and will be joined by a third covering Robin's POV. I hope that intro will clarify the narrative logic of the overall tale: the canon story is all "true" up to a particular point in 2x13, after which, as the three ficlets tell, it swerves into AU.
Second: All of the standalone pieces I've written are strongly congruent in terms of characterization with Guy, Marian, Robin, and the Sheriff as they appear in "Sun." Any interested reader could therefore check the following (all ficlets) for my take on the details of certain S2 events that subsequently inform "Sun":

Sense, is a bit of a departure, being a divertissement set the day after Marian's near-brush with the hangman in 2x11.
